Alphabet Challenge – Deer and Dachshund!

For this weeks letter D I have gone for two seasonal mixed media paintings. The arrival of spiders and their webs on my washing line is a good indicator that autumn is on its way!

I’ve painted an ACEO of a deer and a larger canvas autumn tree painting with dachshund dogs. I decided to use watercolours for the backgrounds and I’m enjoying using watercolour paint more now, definitely on a par with acrylics. Which goes to show with practice it is possible to change your mind about something!

As usual the deer and dogs are painted on acetate with glass paint and placed over the background painting, creating a 3D effect. I’ve listed the deer on ebay ( Ebay link), where you will also find Angel Fish. I’m pleased to say Bush Baby and the Camel have sold 🙂

My featured business this week is the Dogs Trust, a charity http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/. After cats last week it’s the dogs turn! If you know of a business you’d like me to feature please do let me know. Next week I’m looking for a business connected with animals whose name begins with the letter E

About Dogs Trust

Founded in 1891, Dogs Trust (formerly the National Canine Defence League) is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK. Their mission is to bring about the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.

Here’s what we do in a nutshell…

Each year we care for around 16,000 dogs at our nationwide network of 18 Rehoming Centres. No healthy dog is ever destroyed.
We run subsidised neutering campaigns in areas of the UK with the most acute stray dog problems.
Our Education Officers give thousands of classroom presentations every year. Free teaching resources are made available to all schools in the UK.
Our FREEDOM Project helps pet owners who are fleeing domestic violence by fostering their animals while they start a new life.
The HOPE Project gives preventative veterinary care to dogs belonging to homeless people.
We advise government on any matters concerning dog ownership.
We have established a charity in Ireland that runs a rehoming centre in Dublin.
We assist overseas animal welfare charities by training their staff in best practice.
